One of the most important roles of a leader is creating a clear vision for the business.  It can be challenging to create a strong vision, but it’s worth the time and effort. A company’s vision should include things like revenue, team size, expense, number of customers. When a whole team has a common understanding of where they are going and what they need to do to get there (together), employees will feel more engaged with your organization.

What is Vision?

Defining Vision broadly as what you are building and defining your future business around revenue, team size, profit, and who your clients are, helps develop your focus so you can better navigate your company’s growth trajectory. By defining our vision within 3-5 years, you can create realistic near-term goals to move you to that future state.

And who decides where you are going? Vision is the leader’s decision. They started their company for a reason. It may have been their passion or a need; they saw an opportunity to fill in that space and provide something new no one else was providing yet. And when they created this idea of what the future would look like with them at its helm–that vision never changes because it embodies everything about why these individuals chose entrepreneurship as well as every stage of success before getting there!

A good vision is a story that resonates with people and drives them to take action. A bad one paints an unclear picture of the future.

Why Creating a Clear Vision Matters

When you have a clear vision for your business, everything from hiring decisions to strategic partnerships is easier.

A clear and well-defined vision is the north star of any company’s path forward. It sets the parameters for every decision made about how to operate the business while times change or remain stagnant as far as success goes; it defines what direction actions will take with these changes in mind. Even when things seem difficult, understanding where one wants their company to go helps make those choices clearer on which way best aligns with this goal–so even bad times give opportunities!

Solid and clear visions make it easier to prioritize and see the big picture. With this in mind, employees will be more engaged as they know where their work contributes to the company’s overall goals that have been outlined for them–and there is nothing better than a team full of people who are excited about what they do!

When times are tough, it can be hard to move forward. The Vision for your business will always bring you back on track.

A Clear Vision Strengthens Your Team

A clear vision strengthens your team. A robust and specific company goal helps employees know the direction they need to go and what work aligns with that goal–even when times are tough. There is nothing better than a team full of people who are excited about where their work contributes!

A clear Vision also supports your recruiting efforts. If you want to attract the best talent, your company’s Vision and what it stands for needs to be clear. When prospective employees contact a business with a solid vision, they will know the company’s direction and if their personal beliefs align with those of the organization.

Finally, a clear vision is something that employees want as it drives their purpose and reason for showing up every day. A critical engagement driver is understanding the Vision. Talk to your team about the Vision and how each person’s role impacts the success or failure of achieving the Vision.

In a recent Gallup study, companies with a clear vision ranked higher in employee engagement and organizational performance than those without. The most successful organizations are guided by an inspiring purpose shared across the organization, not just at the top level of leadership. When everyone has access to a common understanding of where they’re going and what it takes to get there (together), employees will feel more engaged with your company – which can have significant ripple effects on customer satisfaction, retention rates, profitability, and more.
